Have a community improvement project but lack the funds to do it? Wondering how to create public enthusiasm around project ideas and turn that enthusiasm into financial support?

Join this conversation on crowdfunding for community development to hear about opportunities for funding your placemaking projects. Share your own experiences on raising public support, learn about strategies that have succeeded in other communities, and get your crowdfunding questions answered.

This conversation is a continuation of what was shared through the CreatINg Places webinar in January. CreatINg Places, a program developed through a partnership of the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority and Patronicity, offers a matching grant to communities that crowdfund support for community development projects. (Members can view a recording of that webinar here.) Veronica Watson will be back to share her expertise, joined by representatives from two of the first communities to successfully complete the CreatINg Places program:

Tyler Karst is the Project Coordinator for Wabash Marketplace Inc., which ran a crowdfunding campaign in late 2016 for a plaza along the Wabash River. Their original goal was $50,000 and they raised $82,659.

Wendy Blake is the Executive Director of Main Street Greensburg, which ran a campaign in early 2017 for murals and streetscape upgrades. Their original goal was $32,500 and they raised $32,601.
