The National Association of Home Builders' (NAHB) Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS) designation program teaches the technical, business management, and customer service skills essential to competing in the fastest growing segment of the residential remodeling industry: home modifications for the aging-in-place.
The CAPS designation helps developers/builders make their clients' homes more "visitable." Even if the homeowners don't think they need additional task lighting, grab bars, and other home modifications for their own use, their family members and visitors might.
The curriculum is composed of three one-day courses: Marketing & Communications Strategies for Aging & Accessibility (CAPS I), Design/Build Solutions for Aging & Accessibility (CAPS II), and Business Management for Building Professionals. Participants who have already completed the business management course for another NAHB certification are not required to participate in that session, which will be May 18.
Trainers for this course are provided by the Indiana Builders Association. This training is underwritten by the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority (IHCDA).
There is no free parking at the training venue. Parking options will be provided in your registration confirmation email. For an additional fee, you may reserve a parking spot in a lot located a block from the training facility. Please select "Member +Parking" or "Non-member +Parking" when you register to make your parking reservation. Note: You must reserve your spot at least a week in advance.
