
Prosperity Indiana is offering our popular Housing Navigation 101 Training this fall!! We have updated the course content to best meet participants' needs and are excited to offer this new version to you beginning September 15, 2026.
Overview of Training
Housing navigation provides supportive services to individuals and families who are experiencing homeless, at risk of homelessness, or struggling to locate an affordable housing unit.
Housing navigators walk alongside families throughout their journey to housing stability, and the goal of Housing Navigation 101 is to provide course participants with the knowledge and tools needed to assist families identify, obtain, and maintain stable housing.
Housing Navigation 101 will increase your or your understanding of how government-funded housing programs operate and expand participants' ability to direct clients to healthy housing.
Audience
This training is designed for, but not limited to public health workers, case managers, life coaches, financial education providers, program managers, health navigators, local units of government, community action staff and many more!
Learning Objectives
You will understand the various federal and state housing programs offered throughout Indiana.
You will understand eligibility requirements for housing programs such as vouchers and subsided housing, as well as HUD Affordable Housing Programs.
You will learn where and how to locate HUD’s Fair Market Values and how these values are utilized within housing programs.
You will learn the basics of Fair Housing regulations, rental agreements, and housing habitability standards.
You will learn where to locate legal resources, tenant and landlord rights and responsibilities, whose must make property repairs.
You will gain an understanding of the importance of creating and leveraging relationships with landlords to increase housing stability for populations served.
You will learn how to help clients remain successfully housed through community-based partnerships and housing advocacy.
Schedule
The Housing Navigation 101 course consists of four (4) ninety-minute virtual sessions, scheduled as follows:

Module #2 September 17, 2026 | 10:00 - 11:30 AM Eastern
Module #3 September 22, 2026 | 10:00 - 11:30 AM Eastern
Module #4 September 24, 2026 | 10:00 - 11:30 AM Eastern
Follow-up Test Review Module September 29, 2026 | 10:00 AM Eastern
All sessions will conclude with an activity to complete before the next session. A pre/posttest will be provided to help PI continue to evaluate learning and knowledge gained from the training.
