Join Kheprw Institute, Prosperity Indiana, and Tia Turner, Project Manager of Our Homes, Our Votes with the National Low Income Housing Coalition to learn about the power and opportunity of mobilizing your community to participate in upcoming elections. This conversation will showcase the potential of nonpartisan strategies and tactics to promote voter registration and participation, and to ensure the voices of local renters and residents in our communities and neighborhoods are heard.

Renters, especially low-income renters, are underrepresented among voters. To build the political will for housing solutions, it is critical that organizations that work directly with low-income renters--including nonprofits, housing providers, and tenant associations--mobilize renters and other low-income people to vote.

As advocates for fair, affordable, stable housing, we know the future we want for our neighborhoods and communities.  Housing is a moral issue, and it is also the result of a political process. Everything from how much housing is built and where, to how much assistance is available and to whom, to what recourse is available to tenants facing discrimination or eviction is the result of political processes. We cannot afford for these decisions to be made without us.

Our Homes, Our Votes is a nonpartisan campaign to register, educate, and mobilize low-income renters and affordable housing advocates to vote. It is an initiative of the National Low Income Housing Coalition, which advocates for racially and socially equitable public policy that ensures people with the lowest incomes can have quality homes that are accessible and affordable in communities of their choice.
