Prosperity Indiana's member network is dedicated to confronting the neighborhood destabilization and economic harms caused by blight and abandonment throughout the state. While we have worked to enact incremental legislative progress to empower local responses over the past few years, existing tools and resources are clearly still not sufficient to address the challenges facing our communities.

Our network must work together to develop stronger, more robust policy solutions. That is why we need your voice at this Connection Point call on Thursday, August 31, at 1:00 pm (EDT) to weigh in on legislative proposals aimed at helping cities throughout Indiana more effectively acquire properties and fund efforts to combat blight.

Specifically, we will engage members about potential legislation to:

  • Reform the tax sale process for governmental units (land banks/redevelopment commissions) to more easily acquire deeds vs. certificates
  • Develop a sustainable resource stream to support land banks’ and/or redevelopment commissions’ blight elimination work
  • Increase the authority of these units to deal with large-scale property volumes

Prosperity Indiana wants to ensure that any legislative response we work to move forward is the result of community and member engagement, so we hope you will join us for this important call.
